I scanned two pages from a manual-in 2 pg format- and when I view it, I have to rotate it to view the pages side by side. But how can I save it in the rotated view?

With the free Reader, you can't. It can only rotate the current view. It requires Acrobat to actually rotate the document.

Install a pdf file printer driver and print the rotated file to the "pdf" printer. It will ask you for a file name to "print" to. The "printed" file will open in the correct orientation.
