Tried several times to download the new Adobe Flash Player -- followed all simple instructions to the letter. Adobe starts to download, then I am prompted to close Internet Explorer in order to continue. I close it, and it doesn't continue! Help!

I'd recommend opening your task manager in windows and looking for entries titled iexplorer.exe in the process tab.  Right click each entry found and select "end task".  Once all of them are closed, the installer should continue (or you can try restarting it.)
