Hello-
I need to install Flash Player on 120 OSX.8 based Lab computers. Since Adobe doesn't use packages for an installer vehicle, how do I mass deploy the update? Is there a way to use the Application manager to build packages? Manually installing on 120 machines takes about a day to complete. Where can I find a script that will perform a silent install on OSX?
Thanks in advance.
Pat

Hi Pat,
Please take a look at the section titled DMG installation for Macintosh in the Flash Player administration guide. Hopefully the instructions for silent install help you out. Another alternative, and one I'd definitely recommend investigating, is to leverage the automatic update feature built into Flash Player itself. Please see the links below for details.

Hi Chris-
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the Flash programming team is not using a standard naming convention.
For version 11.6.602.171 the install command is:
/Volumes/Flash\ Player/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ Flash\ Player\ Install\ Manager - install
For version 11.6.602.180 the install command is:
/Volumes/Adobe\ Flash\ Player\ Installer/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player -install
And it the end, I need to click the 'finish' button to complete the install....

What's the name of the dmg that you've downloaded? You should be using the one named "install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg" not "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_aih.dmg"
You can find the correct version on our distribution page. If you've signed the distribution agreement page this info should have been provided in the instructions that were sent.

I am downloading from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

That would be the wrong version for distribution. Take a look at the links I provided and you'll see the stand alone version of the installer (the one from get.adobe.com is an online installer.)

From: http://www.adobe.com/products/players/flash-player-distribution.html
From there I click red "DownloadAdobe Flash Player" (sic) link which takes me to: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ clicking on the yellow "Download now" button starts the download of: AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_aih.dmg
Is this not the correct download path?

No, the distribution page is the start of the process where you fill out a form letting Adobe know that you are distributing Flash Player to your internal clients. Once finished, you'll get instructions and links, including one to this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

I downloaded the flash installer dmg today. It is called "install flash player 11 osx.dmg. this is directly from the correct distribution page I received.
When I type in the exact command in the manual, after saving the contents to the desktop as suggested, it tells me that the ./install in not recognized.
From my searching Installer would be the correct command.
In short sudo ./install Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Flash Player Install Manager -install Does not work. Now, I am not day 1 on trying scripting or terminal, so I also tried putting in the whole path to the file, with and without quotes. ./install still is not valid.
If I put in Sudo Installer <path to install manager> -target, I get more but it still will not install.
So, the install guide seems to be worthless for Mac os, at least 10.8 anyways.
Now what would be a suggestion to try?
Honestly, I know adobe likes power of its software but flash is free and should really have the option to be packaged.
