1. Re: New D7100 and Camera Raw
RASouthworth Mar 23, 2013 3:05 PM (in response to LauraMacky)The D7100 is not yet supported in ACR, the latest update is 7.4 rc (release candidate), description at this link:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw7-4/
Adobe initially indicated support for the D7100 in this release, then withdrew it. They may include it in the final 7.4 release, or if not in the next release; releases occur every 3 months or so, with rc versions preceding.

LauraMacky Mar 23, 2013 3:25 PM (in response to RASouthworth)BTW, when I tried that download link you provided for Mac, it said I couldn't open it because the patch is not applicable to me even though I chose the Mac download.

Mollysnoot Mar 23, 2013 4:32 PM (in response to LauraMacky)More bad news I'm afraid... Richard didn't mention it, but I see you say that you're on CS5; when 7.4 final does get released (which may or may not support the D7100, but I bet it does), it won't work in CS5 anyway - CS6 only. Therefore, you'll either need to upgrade to CS6 (which I'd recommend anyway due to the superior raw processing capability), or convert to DNG, as there should be a new version of the convertor released at the same time.
This is more than likely why the download didn't work for you either.

LauraMacky Mar 23, 2013 4:44 PM (in response to Mollysnoot)Eeek! You know Molly, that ran through my mind about needing to upgrade to CS6. I guess I should do that. I really enjoy working with raw. Thanks so much for the info. You can imagine how disappointed I was when I went to upload my first pictures and couldn't see them!

7. Re: New D7100 and Camera Raw
RASouthworth Mar 23, 2013 4:48 PM (in response to LauraMacky)In the meantime you can download the free Nikon ViewNX program, will at least let you view raw and convert to something you can use.

8. Re: New D7100 and Camera Raw
LauraMacky Mar 23, 2013 4:57 PM (in response to RASouthworth)Hmm my camera came with a DVD that included some sort of photo editing program. I can tell my camera to take jpeg in the meantime I suppose? Wouldn't that save me downloading yet another photo tool or does what you describe do a better job of saving information?

9. Re: New D7100 and Camera Raw
RASouthworth Mar 23, 2013 6:16 PM (in response to LauraMacky)Jpegs are fine, just depends upon whether or not your want to process raws between now and whenever Adobe adds the D7100 to their supported camera list. I suspect the DVD came with ViewNX, it's Nikon's standard free image organizer/raw converter.
