Page files I download from BC to Dreamweaver contain the extension ".htm".  I prefer ".html" to maintain consistency.  How can I control this?

Thanks for any tips.

It is only a reference file on the system. I do not know how you change it in DW since I Do not use it but in BC you can choose an extension or not. I prefer clean URLS without exptensions so any and all pages I do I exclude them in the url. By default BC does not use file extensions.

Thanks so much for the tip that the extension can be controlled in BC.  Can anyone tell me how it is done?  Remember, this is the newbie corner.  Explicit, step-by-step instructions are helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Go to  page, edit the url and delete the extension. If you make a new page in the admin you will notice it wont add a file extension by default.

Thanks Liam,

That makes perfect sense, even to a newbie.

I did as instructed and found that some pages had an htm extension, which I changed to html, and some had no extension, which I didn't change.  Somewhere, the decision was made to add the htm extension, but not for all pages, in fact on the two sites I looked at, it was only the index page.

I'm experimenting with sites created in Dreamweaver and uploaded to BC, and also sites created in BC and downloaded to DW in order to understand how things work.  So, I will keep track of what happens.
