I keep getting an Installation error, What does launchfail mean?

I keep trying to install the new verison of flash and at the end of the download, it says flash player not installed, and when I ask for details, it just says "launchfail."

I have no other verisons of flash player installed on my computer.

I'm using firefox on windows vista

What can I do?

I'm sorry you've encountered this problem.  Can you please try installing from the appropriate stand alone Windows installers located here:

It did not work. I tried to open the installer, and it says the installer encountered a problem and is shutting down.

Should I try this in safe mode on my computer? Not sure where to go from here.

Reading the thread, in the user’s first post he states:

What does he mean by “and when I ask for details, it just says “launch fail””…where is he asking for details?  A screenshot would be nice.

Please find out exactly how the user is executing the installer (screenshots would be very helpful).

Download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_hea... and save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

By disk, do you mean the local disk C drive?

I tried that, and saving it to a flash drive, neither worked.
