1. Re: 'Zoom to Keyframes' in Effect Controls Window
JSS1138 Mar 29, 2013 4:16 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)I'd prefer if Adobe just entirely got rid of mouse wheel zooming without the ALT modifier and returned the mouse wheel to it's proper scrolling behavior, as it was in all pervious versions of Premiere Pro. Then just Unpin and Scroll. Simple, efficient, workable.

PierreLouisBeranek Mar 29, 2013 6:20 PM (in response to JSS1138)Are you serious or just trying to play devil's advocate? Why would anyone prefer a multistep approach to an instantaneous, fool-proof method that requires zero additional user effort? It doesn't make any sense, unless you actually like to waste time on additional steps that could easily be avoided with the program tweak I suggest.

3. Re: 'Zoom to Keyframes' in Effect Controls Window
JSS1138 Mar 29, 2013 9:50 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)I think ease of programming is the advantage of my version. I find the zoom level sufficient when Unpinning, it's just damn difficult to drag the scroll bar to get to where I need to go. If I could scroll with the mouse wheel, code which is already in the program for other windows, we'd have more refined control, and life would be easier.

PierreLouisBeranek Mar 30, 2013 5:41 AM (in response to JSS1138)Ease of programming is the advantage of your version? So you'd rather see Adobe take the easy, complacent way out than see them put forward an honest effort to improve PP with inovative, albeit perhaps slightly harder to program, tools? (I believe Adobe already does put forward an honest effort, although it's sometimes misguided, wasting resources on tools that nobody uses instead of giving us what we actually need. 'Find Faces' anyone?). If everyone thought like you, we'd all be using command prompt OSes. GUI? Who needs a GUI? Command prompt has more 'ease of programming'. As another user recently mentioned, I'm glad you are not part of the Adobe programming team Jim. No offense.
I agree that an easier way to scroll left/right on the ECW's clip would we very welcome, since having to mouse over the zoom bar is a tedious, unecessary pain. I'll add my own FR for this (After all, why should mouse-wheel zooming and scrolling be allowed by mousing over any part of the Timeline, but not in the ECW?)
However, one improvement need not exclude another. Your posts would come across as far more amicable and less obstinate if you wrote along the lines of 'my idea could complement yours' rather than 'I'd prefer a smaller improvement than the one suggested since it would be easier for Adobe to program'.

PierreLouisBeranek Mar 30, 2013 6:01 AM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)Here's the FR I just posted. Does this fit along the lines of what you were suggesting Jim? If so, please post as your own FR.
*******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature: Mouse wheel scroll/zooming ANYWHERE in ECW
How would you like the feature to work?
Just like users can use the mouse wheel to zoom and scroll a sequence by mousing over ANY part of the Timeline, it would be a great usability improvement for users to be allowed to do so in the ECW while moused over any part of the window instead of just over the tiny zoom bar.
Furthermore, the keyboard modifiers should remain consistent between the Timeline and the ECW. Thus, if ALT-mouse wheeling zooms in the Timeline, it should also zoom in the ECW!
Why the current lack of consistency?
Why is this feature important to you?
Consistency, consistency, consistency! Consistency in a GUI makes it all the more user friendly, discoverable and efficient. For some reason, Adobe has painfully low consistency in its software, both between applications and between windows/element in single apps. Dedicating resources to a special 'Consistency Creation Task Force', or even more resources should an initiative like this already exist, could do wonders towards improving the software we use and depend on. Thank you!

Yes. That's exactly my point here. Well interpreted.

PierreLouisBeranek Mar 30, 2013 11:36 AM (in response to JSS1138)Unless you're beeing ironic, I'm baffled that that's the actual point you were trying to make. Well, I guess I have nothing more to add.
