Adobe Flashplayer Not Working in IE 9

I have downloaded and installed Adobe Flashplayer over and over. It shows under my programs that it is there, but I still cannot view certain things that require the "latest version of Adobe Flashplayer". I just re-did it, tried to watch a short video, and it still tell me that I need to install it. I recently had a bad virus and had to "dump" the computer and start over. That's when I first began downloading and installing it. It will work if I use Google Chrome, but not Internet Explorer 9. Why is that and is there a way to fix it?
