2. Re: Why doesn't Premiere Pro make the "bliriririirrgnngng" sound that After Effects does when done?
Bill Hunt Apr 16, 2013 8:31 AM (in response to AlfredKubrick9)Several users have requested this feature. Even Photoshop has a "Beep When Done," setting, that can be turned ON/OFF in Preferences.
Others (assume that Joe is one), do not want noises, but if there IS an OFF switch, one could decide for themselves.
Good luck, and Joe is 100% correct in that the Feature Request is the way to go.

You're right... but there's no 'off switch' in Ae.
After installing Ae, I replace these files with silent .wav files.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS6\Support Files\sounds
rnd_okay.wav
rnd_fail.wav

Bill Hunt Apr 16, 2013 8:39 AM (in response to joe bloe premiere)Joe,
Thank you for that info. Guess that I use AE too little, and for tiny Comps, that I never paid any attention to the "bing." Also, I do not have speakers hooked up (usually) to the workstation, and do not keep the headphones on, unless I am working directly with Audio. Guess that I never heard the tone, and never went looking for an OFF switch.
Appreciated,
Hunt

shooternz Apr 16, 2013 2:01 PM (in response to AlfredKubrick9)I really hate how I never know when Premiere Pro is done rendering, because it has no option to set a sound and doesn't play one by default either.
Do you know that you can keep working while its rendering? Whats the problem?

6. Re: Why doesn't Premiere Pro make the "bliriririirrgnngng" sound that After Effects does when done?
AlfredKubrick9 Apr 16, 2013 2:12 PM (in response to shooternz)Actually, when it is rendering, I can't do a thing. I can barely even use *other* applications because the child window to Pr keeps stealing focus whenever I open any Explorer window. This happens not just with Pr but with all Windows applications and is a problem with Windows itself rather than anything else, but... no. You can't work when Pr is rendering?

Not yet. That would have been an excellent new addition to Premiere Pro Next, more so I think that many of the FCP features that got added.

shooternz Apr 16, 2013 9:23 PM (in response to JSS1138)Sorry...I probably should have said when Exporting.
Some people use the term "rendering" for "exporting".
Thats how it is used in AEFX and thats the only time one hears the "Finished" signal..

AlfredKubrick9 Apr 17, 2013 4:41 AM (in response to shooternz)Either I'm stupid or this doesn't make any sense at all. Do you mean to say that you're talking about Ae -- not Pr?

10. Re: Why doesn't Premiere Pro make the "bliriririirrgnngng" sound that After Effects does when done?
Bill Hunt Apr 17, 2013 9:37 AM (in response to AlfredKubrick9)In this case, yes he is. He's mentioning how the "finished tone" is used in AE, which apparently does not have an OFF switch.
In PrPro, as of about CS 3, if one is Exporting (not Rendering, which is what I think you are talking about), one can use AME (Adobe Media Encoder) to separately Export, whilc still editing in PrPro. For Rendering the Timeline for smoothest playback, one cannot do other editing, until that process is either completed (where I think you would like a tone), or canceled.
As Craig (ShooterNZ) points out, the terms Rendering and Export can cause confusion, depending on which program one is referring to.

PS - as mentioned, Photoshop has a "finished tone," and it can be turned ON/OFF, which is what I would want, if added to PrPro.

You asked why cant PPRO emit an audible signal when it finishes rendering ...like AEFX does.
In AEFX...exporting is called rendering.
In PPRO one renders fx in a sequence and exports for final output. 2 terms kind of interchangeable
Because you mentioned AEFX rendering (exporting) ...I assumed you meant the same in PPRO.(ie Exporting)
You can export in PPRO and continue working. (editing)
