Can't run the installer - error message

We get halfway through the install - at 50%, as it switches from "downloading" to "installing" - and it stops, with "general error" message. We've done all the troubleshooting steps the page advises. Now what?

This worked for me. Download the latest Uninstaller and Save As to your Desktop. Close all browsers, run the uninstall. Then do the same for the install procedure, from the website, Save As the latest version to your Dektop. Close all browsers, run the install program. Good luck!

Mac 10.7.5; using both Safari and Firefox.
