Need Help! Between rock and hardplace with LR and Wacom Graphic Pen(s)

I am hoping that someone on this forum can offer me some suggestions on how to rectify a problem I am having with LR (version 4.2 or 4.3) under Windows 8 (64 bit). Essentially, when I go into LR the right-clcik on my Intuos 5 pen fails to do anything other than select an image. It will not bring up the contect menu. Ironically, the pen functions fine on the desktop and every app I have loaded, including CS6. This started when I migrated from Win 7 to Win 8 after rebuilding my computer. If I put my Win 7 drive back into the same system that runs Win 8 and I go back into LR (4.3) the pen functions flawlessly. Additionally, when I am in Win 8 the right button on my Logitech mouse works just fine, but not the pen. Also, if I go into the Wacom utility and set the mode from "Pen" to "Mouse" then the right-click functionality of the pen returns. All discussions with Wacom Tech Support have run into a brick wall. Since they cannot reproduce the problem they are asserting this is an Adobe LR specific issue, especially since both the tablet and Pen function fine in everything, even in Photoshop, but just not in LR. I spoke with Adobe Tech Support and they say it is a Wacom issue and I need to get them to resolve the problem. So if anyone had seen this behavior before and has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Here are the things I have tried:

      1) change the settings in "Pen and Touch"

      2) changed he settings in the Wacom tablet settings panel

      3) uninstalled and reinstalled the tablet

      4) update the tablet driver

      5) Replaced the pen

      6) replaced the tablet

      7) disabled everything in the start menu and performed a clean boot

      8) deleted the LR prefences files and started LR as Admin

      9) Uninstalled 4.3 and digressed to 4.2

      10) Uninstalled 4.2, deleted all LR files in C:\Users\[username\roaming\adobe\lightrooom, and then reinstalled LR 4.3

      11) Booted into Safemode

      12) removed the Logitech mouse

      13) disabled items in services

      14) checked for viruses and malware

Also, I have followed everything to the letter in terms of recommendations from Adobe and LR but nothing seems to bring back the right-click functionality with my Wacom Pen in the Pen Mode while in LR, regardless of the version. I need help!

I had a similar problem with my older Intuos 2 when I switched from one Vista machine, to another. The bottom button, set for right click, would not work for a right click at all. Could not figure it out. But it went away all by its self. You might try installing an older Wacom driver, not the most recent one.

Thanks for responding and the suggestion. I did try and digress through various driver versions, even to the Win 7 one but still no results. However, while playing around I did find that if I right-click and then press down on the pen tip and drag I can get the context menu to popup which is what the normal right-click does when things are working as should be. So I have an interim solution though not ideal, it nonetheless gets me the right-click menu. Maybe some future updates between the tablet driver and LR will result in the issue being fixed,

in the Wacom Pen Settings, in the Options section (button near bottom) do you have the side switch mode set for "Hover Click" or "Click & Tap"?

Thanks for responding and your input. I have tried it in both positions and the only place it made a difference was outside of Windows. There is something going on between Windows 8 and LR on my computer that does not occur in any other application, including Photoshop CS6. Also, it does not seem hardware related since I can boot up the same machine with Windows 7 and the problem goes away. So far it seems relative to the community that this is a very isolated and unique problem to my system. The one thing I have not done is a Windows repair or reinstall which I am hesitant to do.

I don't know if it will make you feel any better but I am having the exact same problem. I too migrated from Windows 7 64bit to Windows 8 Pro. Not only does the right click not work in Lightroom but the Wacom pen locks up in Bridge CS5 and in Adobe online help. In the latter two programs you get one click and then nothing happens until you move the mouse, and then all the intermediary clicks replay at once. I've talked to Wacom tech support and done all the driver changes they suggested and I've also uninstalled my Logitech mouse driver in case that was part of the problem. No solution yet. By the way, Windows 8 has a "Pen and Touch" feature called "Press and hold" which brings up the context menu (right clicks) if you press the pen on one spot for a few seconds, but this does not work in Lightroom either.

Howdy. Thanks for sharing of the same woes. I am now back on Win7 64 and everything is working fine. This might be of help to you if you are committed to Win8. When in LR, I found that if I would right-click and drag the pen on the tablet the context menu would then show up. I happened upon this while desperately trying to find a solution. It took me a few times to master it but I finally got to where I could consistently get it to pop up. I hope this helps you.
