Installing Flash Player 11.7.700.169 in XP

I tried installing Flash Player version 11.7.700.169 in XP and got a script error.  I checked my system setting and found scripting to be enabled.  I tried completely uninstalling Flash Player and reinstalling but got the same result.  Have no idea what I can do to resolve this.  Can anybody help.

Thanks - actually I had to add one more step to your solution and was to download the Flash Player uninstaller and run it to clean everything out from the previous installation.  Once I did that the offline installer worked great.  Thanks again.
