Phone call from a web page

Hi everyone:

Ideally using CFMX 7, I would like to:

1. Look up a fellow staff member on our Intranet.
2. Have that staffer's phone extension appear with his/her info.
3. Have a phone icon appear next to the staffer's phone extension that I could click and have the number dialed instantly.

I've never done any phone integrations before, so no advice would be too elemental on where to start with this. Are there off-the-shelf solutions, or would something have to be home grown.
