In the middle of installing the Flash Player it stops and says to close Internet Explorer, it IS closed. It will not continue installing even when Internet Explorer is closed.  I do not know what to do about this, it has never done this before.  Help?

Clearing the Prefetch folder can result in a serious slowdown of Windows.

Clearing the prefetch folder may, and I stress the word may, cause the first time you restart your machine to be a second or two slower as the system replenishes the necessary files in the cache.  After that, it will return to your original processing speed.  The advantage is that you're getting rid of unnecessary files that accumulate in the prefetch cache over time.  I suggest you realize what you're talking about prior to making erroneous statements.

Whatever the effects are of clearing the Prefetch cache has nothing to do with the original question: how to end iexplore.exe process running in the background.
