Can't complete download of Flash Player 11 to my iMac with 10.8.3, get "metafile download failed"

I have tried several times to complete the download of Flash Player 11 to my iMac with OS 10.8.3. Each time I get the "Metafile download failed" error message. I have tried deleting my old FP version, still will not complete the download, get same message. I have also tried looking for older FP 10 versions but can't find any to download. I have tried both Firefox abd Safari as browsers, still same failure. Any suggestions out there?
