Vista does not support hlp files. Will Robo help easily convert hlp files to chm format?

Welcome to the forum.

You don't say which version of RH you are using or whether it is RH for Word or RH HTML. Either way, rather than convert, you should be able generate the chm output rather than the hlp format. Under Single Source Layouts if you have a recent version.

Sorry for not being more specific. I do not have a version of RoboHelp. We're looking to see if RoboHelp is a tool we can use to convert hlp files from older applications. Some of these products are from vendors who no longer exist yet the programs do what we need - just not the hlp files. Hopefully with the right tool we can convert them. We're just wondering if RoboHelp is that tool. If so then we'd be interested in evaluating the product.

Yes RH allows you to create a project by importing a hlp file. From there you can create chm outputs amongst a variety of others.

Quite apart from the ease of use you get from RoboHelp, these user supported forums are a great resource. It is not often a question goes unananswered and usually very quickly.
