can't use flash in new macbook

I have a new MacBook, downloaded Flash, said its loaded but doesn't show up in applications and swf files will not open.

You mean local swf files?  For that you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
