1. Re: Want to see PSE in the cloud?
99jon May 13, 2013 3:13 AM (in response to Barbara B.)It’s an interesting one and presumably would only benefit those with a full cloud subscription. I believe the monthly single product subscription of $19.99 will open up possibilities for those not able to fork out $700 for CS6.
Adobe needs to up its game for photographers so that the CC products have the same value as the full set for web designers, video producers and print publishers.
I would gladly pay $19.99 per month if Lightroom an Photoshop CC were bundled together but I’m not prepared to subscribe twice for the same raw engine.
The bottom line is that Adobe is likely to end the sale of all boxed products and delivery will become solely by download, even for PSE.
The CC software installs on your desktop machine and will happily co-exist with your existing products. So if you ever cancel your cloud subscription you can always go back to your old software. Therein lies the problem. You could spend hundreds or thousands of dollars over many years subscriptions and never own the software.
So at present I’m both for and against and will wait and see what happens.

Or no? Anyway, there's a poll over in the CC forum:

Go vote and tell adobe what you think, one way or the other. Up arrow means yes, great idea, down arrow means no, are you crazy?
I went there, voted against it and left a comment.
All were voting to have Adobe give it to them in their CC membership. Some wanted it because Pan and Zoom is hard to do in the expensive Photoshop. Most justified it by saying they make part of their living supporting Elements customers with books, websites, templates and training videos. As professional Elements technical supporters, they want Elements in their professional CC tool kits for no additional charge.
My reason to vote the other way is, that with so much competition at the consumer level, Adobe will not have a consumer market if they make it a cloud product. The supporting pros won't have anyone to support!
(FWIW, the PrE and PE version 11 combo is $84 on Amazon as I write this. If your camera can do both photo and video, this is as about as good as it gets. Last Christmas, I saw it for a little less, but not much.)

Says who? No one knows if this will happen in the future, and it definitely is not what Adobe is saying at this time.

whsprague May 13, 2013 9:51 AM (in response to dj_paige)I have no problem with a downloaded version. My problem is with making it part of the CC, by subscription only, with the 'pro' tools. I'm tempted to list all the available competitive choices that consumers use and like. My sense is that Adobe has the largest share of the consumer/hobby market. Screwing that up, will put a dent in the third party support bussiness.
