Ann Bens May 16, 2013 2:56 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)Start by holding down shift+alt when start up Premiere untill the welcome screen.
Empty Media Cash.
See if that will help.

Harm Millaard May 16, 2013 4:01 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)The specs of this laptop are far below minimum to edit AVCHD material, only a dual core, an AMD video card, very limited memory and a slow disk setup I guess. With the screen resolution, it does not even meet the Adobe minimum requirements. The single 5400 RPM disk is below minimum requirements as well, in short it is way underspecced for your editing needs.

tfi productions 44 May 16, 2013 6:50 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)hello and thanks for helping out:
i did clear the media cache and media cache files
i've used this laptop before a lot with cs5.03 and never had an issue with anything even though it is underspeced
after retracing my steps the only idea i have to what went wrong is that i captured the footage from the camera
without the laptop being plugged in (this kinda makes sense to me)
i'm running tests to see if i can confirm that and hopefully can reshoot
cheers, j

tfi productions 44 May 16, 2013 10:05 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)hello,
a huge massive shoutout and props and thanks to Harm
i hooked up my supercomputer this evening and on the first try
all 6 files that were not conforming properly did so immediately...
now i have a new problem: the quadro 4000 heats up too quickly
so i don't get much work done before having to quit PPRO for a while
and i do remember editing on this laptop mentioned
but i think i created the projects on the supercomputer and then
copied things over to the laptop
currently with PPRO open and not doing anything the gpu temp is 84C with the covers off and 2 fans
i also have the gpu fan on 100%, too
the computer crashes at 102C
i also have 8 10k discs in the case so that doesn't help much
i am going to try to copy the media cache files, project, etc over to the laptop
and see if that works
have a great night, j

5. Re: PPRO 5.03 only 'imports' half of the audio while conforming mts file...need help asap please
Harm Millaard May 16, 2013 11:41 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)This is a serious problem and will give huge headaches, because you can never predict when the thermal protection will kick in and how much of your editing you will lose. These high temperatures will also greatly reduce longevity of the CPU, memory and video card.
You need to clean up all the dust accumulated inside your case, clean your fans, check that they all work and replace non-functioning ones. Also check your cabling does not disrupt airflow. If the CPU temperature when idle is still over 50° C, you should apply new thermal paste to the CPU cooler and attach it with equal but not too much pressure again.
If you still have temperature problems, it may be time to look at a case that gives you better airflow.
If I look at my own system, an i7-3930K running @ 4.7 GHz, a GTX 680 overclocked to 226 GB/s bandwidth (around 30%), 64 GB DDR3-2180 memory and 25 conventional HDD's internally, plus the rest, I have temperatures like this with a room temperature around 21 ° C:
Component Idle
Temperature
Full load stress
Temperature
CPU i7-3930K @ 4.7 GHz OC ± 41 ° C ± 57 ° C GTX 680/4G OC ± 35 ° C ± 56 ° C / fan 50% Motherboard ± 28 ° C not checked In comparison your temps are absolutely unbelievable. Better solve this ASAP.

tfi productions 44 May 16, 2013 11:48 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)hello Harm,
the cpu is wonderfully cool
it's the gpu that runs hot
i have 2 fans on it plus the gpu fan itself at 100% and it's just noisy
so i'm looking into:
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242030
they look big
i have a noctua on the cpu and it is sweet
eventually i want to reinstall the 2nd quadro 4000 to run 4 monitors
and start doing 3d which is why i got the quadro in the first place
hopefully i can find a way to get the temps down
i cleaned everything tonight before turning on the supercomputer
and so far so good
any recommendations on a case that will hold 8 3.5" disks? + 2 quadro 4000s and a big noctua cpu cooler?
thanks for you advice!

tfi productions 44 May 17, 2013 12:16 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)hello
this thread gives me lots of ideas
i read from pages 5 (post 48) to page-9
it would be cool to create some type of cooler for 2 quadro 4000s
(both cards are out of warranty)
a breathtaking machine no doubt!!!
cheers, j

Harm Millaard May 17, 2013 12:49 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)That Prolimatech cooler looks nice, but has a severe drawbak if you want to install two Quadro cards. There may not be enough physical room between the two cards to mount two 120 mm fans and still have a good airflow. Your PCIe slots may be spaced just too close.
Instead I would suggest you sell both Quadro's and instead get one GTX 660 Ti which is faster, can steer 4 monitors and uses less power. You may be able to break even on such a deal and at the same time have a better airflow through your case.
As for cases, I like cases that have ample room and have a business look about them. Straight, no bells and whistles, no crazy colors, etc. Fractal Design XL R2 is one to consider, attractively priced and with sufficient room. A step up from that is Lian Li, for instance the PC-A77 models, noticeably more expensive than Fractal Design, but superb quality and construction. Finally there is CaseLabs with probably the best cases on Earth and close by. I have had the Magnum TH-10 for one year now and it simply is the best case ever. Of course you could do with a smaller case like the SMH-10, which still offers space for 4 5.25" devices plus 15 hot-swappable 3.5" drives.

9. Re: PPRO 5.03 only 'imports' half of the audio while conforming mts file...need help asap please
tfi productions 44 May 17, 2013 12:58 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)hello Harm,
thanks for the case advice
i'm gonna look into those: it'd be nice to get 1 case to contain all my drives
(i have 2 separate esata boxes with 4 drives each) + the 8 inside the box = 16
which makes me like the smh-10...
also, i got a torx screwdriver and openend up the quadro and cleaned it really well
now using PPRO the way i edit, the temp won't go above 60C, so i am super happy
i want to keep the quadros because of doing 3d work
here's to a cool summer
thanks for your advice,
j

tfi productions 44 May 20, 2013 12:59 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)hello,
update: after cleaning out the quadro and rendering the baseball dvd
the gpu ramps up to 97% use and holds below 70C
i still have the case sides off and a fan blowing on it
(the gpu fan is at 70%, too)
i am a happy camper
thanks, cheers, beerthirty...
