My Flashplayer does not work

Adobe Flashplayer was installed on purchase and has been updated and is showing as installed on my pc but on numerous sites I cannot perform functions I should be able to, eg cannot play videos on Facebook, as it tells me I need to install the latest version of Flashplayer, but I have it. Any ideas.
