Workflows with SpeedGrade CC and Premiere CC

    KGCW Community Member

Is there any new workflow related feature in the upcoming Speedgrade CC that hasn't been shown yet ?

The new Lumetri Deep Color Engine looks like a fantastic idea, but unless I missed something you have to manually load each .look for each clip that get a discrete color correction. That's not that much of an issue for a multicam program, but for anything else that might have tens, hundreds or even thousands of differents .look to load on their respective clips, I wonder how it is usable. Please correct if I'm wrong and if you included some kind of auto .look linker.

Also, is SpeedGrade CC still limited to importing .EDL, or is .XML import coming to the next version ?

yes please, I would like to know as well.

does "send to speedgrade" still create a .dpx sequence or does speedgrade handle native media now?

Thats a big one for me.

You can actually use the Lumetri effect on adjustment layers and on individual clips. That will allow for easily applying a production look to an entire project, or slicing your project into acts with their respective looks, or using it based on scenes.

On the SpeedGrade side itself, we haven't changed the import structure for the version you're gonna get on June 17th.

            Cheers,

            Patrick

Thats a big one for me.

It still creates a DPX sequence if you choose to use the "Send to" feature.

If you want to use native media that's suppprted by SpeedGrade (such as R3D, ARRI RAW, everything Quicktime, TGA, TIFF), the EDL route is worth looking into.

If you want to use a mixture of both processes, it's worth looking into the Easy EDL route that let's you choose a codex or fame sequence format that's suitable for the job:

              http://blogs.adobe.com/movingcolors/2013/02/21/super-easy-edl-workflow-in-speedgrade/

As for the future of the product: we know that getting rid of the DPX aspect of the workflow is a big one for a lot of users - and for a really good reason.

              Cheers,

              Patrick

Nice! I like that trick with the edl to cut up the exported file.

That will do just fine for now.

Speedgrade also is Mercury Transmit enabled now correct?

I can't use it if it won't go out to a calibrated broadcast critical monitor.

SpeedGrade CC is indeed Mercury Transmit enabled. Out of the gate you'll be able to use AJA and Matrox, further support for other cards is in the works.
