When I connect my Nook Simple Touch with my computer and opue up ADE, I get a message that the assertion failed and refers me to documentation about Microsoft Visual C++ dcoumentation.  I have succesfully used ADE in the past to transfer ebooks to my Nook. This problem just started.  How do I fix this? Thanks.

This is a bug in ADE, possibly stirred by other changes in your system.  A few things might help.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling.

If you are using v1.7.2, try V2.0.

If you are using v2.0, try v1.7.2.

(I have found 1.7.2 much more reliable in various ways.)

~~

After reinstall or changing versions, the authorization sometimes gets confused.

In that case, use ctrl-shift-d (cmd-shift-D on Mac) to ADE to remove any authorization.

Restart ADE, and reauthorize (menu/Library/Authorize Computer) with your Adobe ID.

Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
