WHAT A SHAMBLES - INSTALLATION STALLED

What a complicated process to get anything into Adobe.   I have been told to upgrade my flash player and have attempted to do so on several occasiuons, by using the provided bar and via Adovbe main site.   I have been advised that the latest versionhas been installed but the message that I cannot watch this content, which includes my own videos uploaded by me, still appears.  I also seem to have 'gained' a number of add ons which I do not want and did not agree to install (by rejecting them).  They seem to be a part of the installation package.  Advise please.  This is the third time I have typed this on three different pages all atributed to Adobe - not good enough Adobe.
