c.pfaffenbichler May 30, 2013 11:17 PM (in response to 444333222111)While I consider the creative cloud a regrettable developement you are still free to purchase a perpetual license for Photoshop CS6.
Adobe doesnt listen to there clients.
Well, I guess the Adobe employees who actually take an interest in these Fora probably have taken notice and may even understand the irritation – but the decision to switch to the regrettable cloud model has probably been taken at different levels where direct contact with consumers may be considered less desirable …
Its the Graphics Mafia.
I still have not tried it, but depending on your kind of work a free (edited) image editor like Gimp may be an option.

444333222111 May 30, 2013 11:23 PM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Its not a cloud model. Its a subscription model.
Subscribe and pay 30 dollars a month for the rest of your life. Fail to pay and you cannot edit the files you payed to edit.

No argument, still Adobe’s name for it is »Creative Cloud« …
Subscribe and pay 30 dollars a month for the rest of your life.
You think in two, three, … years time it will still be 30 bucks?

c.pfaffenbichler May 30, 2013 11:39 PM (in response to 444333222111)Well, like I said I consider Adobe’s decision regrettable, so I sympathise with your indignation while I would not use the same terminology.
Pity that some of the »cloud« features in Photoshop seem really tempting …

444333222111 May 30, 2013 11:44 PM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)Go for it then. I am paying for programs I will not use. I'm a photographer and a web developer. I use 2 programs and I pay for the entire suite for the rest of my life. Then when I retire and cant make my monthly payments I can no longer edit my files.
Adobe can kiss my camera.

I think in one of the threads on this issue someone made the effort to list alternatives for Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign … but I can’t locate the thread.
In this one
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4358052#4358052
darktable, inkscape and others are mentioned.
