I own CS6, and just joined Creative Cloud. If I were to quit Creative Cloud, would I still be able to use my old CS6 apps? I realize I would lose the Cloud-only apps like Muse, but would apps like Photoshop and Illustrator just return to their old CS6 licenses?
You should be just fine, perpetual licensed versions are separate from the Creative Cloud, below are a few threads discussing this:

Or is this a one way street, no going back?
Having stated the above, yes your statement is Adobe's hope and intention with the subscription model going forward. They are claiming their software and the other new offerings are now a "service" and their hope is once they get you locked into these "services" then you will be reliant on them perpetually going forward. So yes, Adobe's is banking on the one way street they are building and trying very hard to make sure there will be no going back for customers once subscribed through various methods and tactics.

webmitten Jun 2, 2013 10:30 AM (in response to W_J_T)Thanks for the pointers - I didn't know the 'perpetual license' terminology.
FWIW, I don't think I'll discontinue Creative Cloud - it seems pretty cool. Just wanted to know what would happen if I did!

Nancy O. Jun 2, 2013 11:56 AM (in response to webmitten)I have older versions of Adobe software installed on my desktop as well as Cloud products. I can still launch my older software anytime I need it. Discontinuing the Cloud will not interfere with your previously installed software.

Yes the perpetual license you own forever, with the Creative Cloud subscription model however you rent and only have access to it as long as you keep paying.
