1. Re: How to make an interior shoot (room) have straight lines in cs6
Mike Ornellas Jun 3, 2013 11:44 AM (in response to pennipeter)There are features in Lightroom that correct for lens distortions. Otherwise it's a manual trial and error trip down the road.

2. Re: How to make an interior shoot (room) have straight lines in cs6
Noel Carboni Jun 3, 2013 12:02 PM (in response to pennipeter)I believe you can do what you want with the Perspective Crop Tool, aligning the lines of grid with those on the far wall. An effective technique is to run the edges of the Crop Tool along the edges of the wall then drag them outward by the center point.
But I think you'll really be interested in the new "Upright" functionality of Photoshop CC... It gets the job done with one button.
By the way, with a rectilinear lens, you'll probably want to make really sure your camera is shooting level, i.e., not pointed up or down, but straight sideways. That'll ensure your vertical lines stay vertical and the shot won't need this much correction.

Semaphoric Jun 3, 2013 6:05 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Noel, are the results of the "Upright" feature any better than you can get with perspective crop or transform, or is it just easier?

5. Re: How to make an interior shoot (room) have straight lines in cs6
Trevor.Dennis Jun 3, 2013 6:20 PM (in response to Trevor.Dennis)Noel is the Upright feature part of 13.1 or are you using a pre release full version of CC? I'm guessing this is similar to the tool in LR5? I like the idea of a one-click solution. I had to Shift drag every vertical to fix it with Adaptive Wide Angle.

6. Re: How to make an interior shoot (room) have straight lines in cs6
Semaphoric Jun 3, 2013 7:43 PM (in response to Trevor.Dennis)On a Photo Panorama website, I read about how Renaisance painters had a special type of perspective for wide-angle scenes, that looks rectilinear but lessens the "stretching", like in the drewers on the right side.
I am wondering if "Upright" does similar tricks, or if it's just an improved interface for rectilinear.

Easier and quicker are the chief advantages.
Plus the [A] setting (automatic) is pretty bright. It makes photos look better without taking the adjustments to extremes. Pretty slick!

15. Re: How to make an interior shoot (room) have straight lines in cs6
Noel Carboni Jun 4, 2013 8:55 AM (in response to pennipeter)It's in Camera Raw 8 and will be released with Photoshop CC 14.0 on June 17, which will be made available only to people with a Creative Cloud subscription.
Even though Camera Raw 8 will work with Photoshop CS6, the new features (such as this one) will not be available to users of Photoshop CS6.
As you can see from the screen grab (though the updated icons may make it confusing), it's in the Lens Corrections tab.
