Flash update hanging @ 95%, OS X 10.7.4, current flash is 11.5

All applications closed, permission repairs run, install attempted from a cold (overnight!) shutdown.  Nothing.  File downloads, install commences, hangs at 95%.

I am extremely leery of uninstalling what I have...because I'm not confident I can get the new version installed.

What other info is needed by the community to help me sort this mess out?
