Adobe Digital Edition has stopped working

HI there,

I can still use my ADE last week but today when I opened it and clicked the ADE edition 2 icon, it immediately shows an message "ADE edition 2.0 has stopped working". I have tried removing my firewalls, does not work. I also tried the "troubleshoot" of ADE, also cannot work. I have tried uninstall and reinstall, still showing the same "stopped working message".

What should I do? I am in a urgent for it to read my textbook. I am using window 7.

Problem: I cannot open the ADE program.

Is there any problem with my settings or...?

I suggest you try the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

You will lose a few features.  You can have both installed at once.

You may find it initially gets authorization confused between the two versions.

If you have difficulty with authorization on 1.7.2

1. Run 1.7.2, and type ctrl-shift-D to remove any confused authorization.
2. Restart 1.7.2
3. Try again to authorize

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

But Version 1.7.2 does not have copy and paste function?

It does, for books that allow copying.

For me on a typical library book, 1.7.2 warns me that the copy didn't work.

2.0 just doesn't do any copy, without warning.

Both copy correctly where allowed.

but i tried, when i right click, it only has one option called "settings" and when I use ctrl c and ctrl v and paste in word, it becomes a link instead of words.

Odd, worked for me.  Maybe you need Paste special on the Word side?
