So that is a PDF containing Flash content?  Have you both Flash Player ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and plugin (for other browsers) installed?

I am quite sure that Adobe Reader requires the plugin version.

Hi Cathy and chef.  I'm here to help. Can you please tell me the operating system and browser you are using?  Also, can you describe the issue in more detail? what have you tried?  The more I know the better I can help tackle the problem.  Thanks!

Hi

I have internet explorer and windows 7. I made sure it was 64-bit and I

have restarted the computer as well. I went back to adobe and it said that

if you can read this you have succesfully installed flash. When I went to

open a page that needed flash to work it said that to view the flash

technology content in this pdf file please install the required version of

flash player. That is all the info that is given. Really hope you can help

so I dont go crazy cheers, emma

What do you see here? http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

And what do you mean by content in this pdf file? Are you looking at a pdf in Adobe Reader?

hi

I checked both those things and they were already fine. I could see the

clip so IE was enabling flash to work and ActiveX filtering was not ticked.

The page I wanted to open did not have a circle with a cross through it

next to the address bar so it was not being blocked.

What's next?

The problem is that when I need to use it it does not work. As I said

before, when I open a page that has content that uses flash player it does

not load. It comes up with a message that says:

To view the Flash technology in this Pdf file, please install the required

version of Flash Player. That is all the information it gives and since I

have already installed flash player I don't know how to make this work.

This is what I would like you to help me with.

No, you would need both versions: the ActiveX for Internet Explorer, and the plugin for other browsers AND Adobe Reader.  Download and run the installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_hea... (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).

hi dandab,

I have windows 7 64 bit, and explorer 10, I actually had the explorer 9 and because I started having problems that's why I updated my explorer.

I have downloaded the flash player so many times, and after it finishes, it opens a new window saying that flash player has been succesfully installed.

After that, I can try any website that requires flash player and it will tell me that I have to install it.

I already checked that java is enabled, active X is enabled, scripting is enabled, etc, etc, uninstalled flash player, java, re-installed them again, and nothing seems to work!!

Could you please help me!!

You need to be exact with what you describe...

  • Java is not required to run Flash Player, but JavaScript needs to be enabled.
  • There is no such thing as "active x", but there is ActiveX Filtering.  This needs do be disabled.
  • Additionally the Shockwave Flash Object add-on needs to be enabled.
