Installs fine, then doesn't exist.

I've had this problem for a long time on my iMac, really need to resolve it.  I've installed, uninstalled and re-installed Flash Player a million times, and yet nothing ever works on my browser.  It installs fine everytime, yet once it's installed, when I go to my browser, to a site requiring Flash Player, I just get told that I need to install the latest version of Flash player, which I've always just installed.

I'm using...

OSX 10.6.8

Safari version 5.1.9

Flash Player 11.7.700.203

Javascript enabled, Firewall off.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated, thanks!

Can you check that plugins are on in safari?

  1. In Safari, choose Safari > Preferences or press Command-comma (⌘-,)
  2. Click "Security".
  3. Make sure "allow all other plug-ins" is checked.

please try a clean uninstall using the instructions here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4041846#4041846.  Remember to delete all the files/folders in step 4.

Sorry to say it's still not working.  I did the complete uninstall, then installed again, all fine, but then I go on YouTube, or any site requiring Flash, and it's saying that I need to install Flash Player!

THAT'S IT! Yes, it wasn't checked, so I checked it and it works.  You would not believe the grief I've had over the passed months trying to resolve this, all the tutorials and checklists I found online and none of them mentioned that.  Thanks so much!
