Installing Creative Cloud with Prod Premium CS6.X and 5

      Greetings,

I have reviewed the FAQ and movie on installing creative cloud but still have just a few questions.

First, I would really not be dealing with this until I built a new computer with Windows 8 and did my biennial upgrade of my OS and Adobe suite. However the forced move....if you want to stay semi-current...to creative cloud is making me deal with this now on my current Windows 7 64 bit machine.  I really tried to put this off as long as possible but this making me deal with it now.  This is just one reason I don't like the cloud monthly fee concept but that has all been discussed by many others so won't re-hash that nor is it the point of this post.

Anyway since the discount for previous suite owners is going away at the end of July I am looking at how this would work if I installed it now.  First, I read one post and the FAQ that said it was okay to leave CS6.X installed on the same machine that creative cloud is being installed on.  I read other posts where some people had issues where CS6 threw an error after CC was installed.  Is there any trick to installing CC on a machine that also has CS6 and CS5 on it?

I really don't need CS5 but uninstalling a prior suite version on a PC always seems to mess up your current version so I just don't typically do it.  I guess I am just a little paranoid.....Adobe's Suite installers have always been, let's say, less than foolproof, so since CC is totally new, I have some healthy skepticism. So any particular "gotchas" that I should watch for or plan for in advance?

Also, the install video talks about Adobe bringing up your PC's "login" box and asks for a username and password and that it said that adobe installer makes "changes to your system" so be sure to use the right one.  I understand why it asks for an Adobe ID, but why does it ask for your windows login and password and what does it do?  On my production machine I do not have nor do I need a login or password.  I don't want to have to change this just to install CC.

      Thanks for the help!

It's called UAC. if you don't use it, you'll never see those dialogs. The rest is not relevant. That's all "Let's face it when we cross that bridge" stuff. Some people have no problems at all, others go insane.

            Mylenium,

Thanks.....after many years of CS install challenges (none one year, the next year perhaps many), I always try to identify any bridge issues and solutions in advance but we'll see how it goes.

As far as UAC, I am very familiar with it and definitely have it on, however the screenshot I saw was not a typical windows UAC dialog.  If it is just a UAC prompt that is normal and not a concern.

            Thanks!
