We have just released a fix for the After Effects CC (12.0) crash on Mac OS X v10.9 (Mavericks):

http://adobe.ly/AE_CC_1201_Mavericks

IMPORTANT: The After Effects CC (12.0.1) update fixes a crash on Mac OS X (v10.9). There is no need to install this update on any other operating system. After Effects CC (12.1) is coming soon for all operating systems and includes this same fix plus many more features and bug fixes.

Be sure that you are signed in and have activated the software—i.e., ensure that you

That operating system hasn't been released yet, and it's not listed on the system requirements page for After Effects. Don't try to run this application on that operating system. When that operating system is released, there will be updates to applications to allow them to run on this OS.

Here the same issue!

if Adobe could look into it if its an easy fix then I would be pleased! All other programs in Adobe Creative Suite work.

Yes, we're aware of the issue and are working on the fix, which we will make available by the time the operating system is released.

But you should not be attempting to run the software on an OS that isn't listed in the system requirements.

Isn't there any option to get AE work for developers, that use OSX mavericks and AE CC each day ?

All other CC and CS6 Apps work fine, but only AE CS6 and AE CC don't wanna work on OSX Mavericks.

I think it's a simple line update, that has to be done...

Or can be made a small update and be not officaly released, because Mavericks is also not released, but be released in the adobe labs website ?

Now that is a shitty standard answer, we all know no one HAS to support non final versions of OS' but we also do know that it takes for ever to release such as final, and especially when it comes to OSX, any update is a good update because everything is such a slow progress. Mavericks DP1 runs by far better than the latest version of Mountain Lion even though its in Dev preview 1, EXCEPT for AE...

So a polite answer and a hotfix is what we are after, not some jackass uptight "you pay monthly for our product and you can just suck it"

No one expect Adobe to roll on a dime and divert all resources to fix this within 24 hours, but if nothing will be done until the release of Mavericks, things are just sad.

The point of the cloud only based system is so you can support all your applications easier, roll out updates faster and smoother... no?  So show us why we are paying a monthly subscription....

I support your opinion. We had to pay. Parallels desktop also did not support Mavericks. But has been patched immediately. We don't demand the support of Earlier version of the operating system.

The point of Apple releasng a Developer Preview of Mavericks is to allow DEVELOPERS like Adobe to update their software in time for the actual release of the real OS.  Adobe do not, have never, and have no logical reason to, support unreleased operating systems.

You pay Adobe a monthly subscription to use their software with current Operating Systems, as listed in the software license agreement you agreed to when you purchased your subscription.

Given that After Effects CC is barely a week in the wild, and the Mavericks preview very little more, I'm perfectly happy to wait for the stability and reliability of a properly tested release.

Here's the official word on  After Effects CS6 (11.0) & CC (12.0) on Mac OSX v10.9 (Mavericks):

http://bit.ly/AE_Mac_OSX_109_Mavericks

The gist is that updates to address the crash are planned to be released by the time the OS is released.

It is also interesting to note that the NDA that apple gives to it's developers allows them to post questions and seek answers about software in development on public forums. I've never seen an NDA with such privileges but what do I know...

The Mavericks developer build is pretty freely available to anyone who wants it now, through unofficial channels, so these questions might not be coming from legitimate developers.

Based on what I've seen as a developer, this is NOT a simple line fix, it's a memory overflow issue. the error message is just the final line of console output before it crashes in a segmentation fault.

OS X Mavericks 'Developer Preview' is as such, it is not for the public and shouldn't be employed for general use. It is intended for developers, like Adobe, to preview and bugfix their software (as they are currently doing) so that it may be ready for when the OS is publicly announced for release. Adobe states it is not yet supported (as in their system requirements) and you should have realised this when you bought CC. We shouldn't just expect or demand them to provide a fix overnight. Give them time, Apple's only just released a second seed and there will be more releases (and bugs) to come before we will see a product that works properly and as expected.

> Why are people still using Apple computers?

Because they're good computers.

Don't turn this thread into an argument about the value of one platform over another. Start a new thread in the Video Lounge for that.

I't a problem in a library that we integrate from a third party. We're well on the way to getting this fixed with that third party. We're still targeting an update in September that will include a fix, both for After Effects CS6 (11) and CC (12).

The issue is that Mavericks has been around in developer form for months -- plenty of time for Adobe to ensure basic compatibility.

When it hit GM stage, that's like a gun going off at the start of a race. You should have been good to go by that point.

Somewhere a Project Manager is sleeping or on vacation.

What? No. Software for an OS only needs to be ready for the OS when the OS is released. There is no reason whatsoever to have it ready before the OS goes live. The whole purpose for the development stages (and GM is still a development stage) is for software developers to test their software and rewrite as needed to prepare for the new release. When the development versions of an OS are released, that's the first time Adobe gets to see it too! It takes time to write code! They have to make it work with the new OS without breaking the compatibility with old ones.

So they are taking the time to test their software with the OS to make sure it works well.

Also, there is no law requiring them to be ready the exact moment it goes live either. That's just a nice cherry on top.

Good heavens, people! They have an update out for an OLD VERSION OF THEIR SOFTWARE that makes it compatible with a brand-new OS. We should be thanking them for going above and beyond instead of whining at them.
