Omke Oudeman Jun 21, 2013 5:06 AM (in response to AudoWarp)What?
No mp4?!?!
Bridge uses the common name .m4a instead of .mp4, by default set to iTunes in Bridge FT associations
However you can play a file with .mp4 without problems in Bridge

AudoWarp Jun 21, 2013 11:04 PM (in response to Omke Oudeman)Changing the mp4a FT association to open with VLC does not work.
I don't think mp4 and mp4a are the same thing.

Try this:
http://www.ehow.com/info_12198542_mp4a-file.html
I did not go through all the info but it seems the 'a' stands for only audio.
Bridge can handle a lot of file type but by far not everything. It should handle all Adobe Suite possible filetypes but even this is still not the case. However trying to get all kinds of file types handled will be a big task

AudoWarp Jun 22, 2013 8:54 AM (in response to Omke Oudeman)I have VIDEO that is mp4.
Its a VERY common format.
Bridge plays the mp4 video, so I don't understand why it won't allow me to change the filetype association.

I'm sorry but I don't understand this anymore. We seem to act in the same thread but are not talking to each other?

Curt Y Jun 22, 2013 9:14 AM (in response to AudoWarp)Not sure what you are trying to do. You can not just change an extension to make a different one. You need to run it through a converter.
You can set VLC to be default program to open video file, as I have. Works well. But believe it still plays thumb in Quicktime.

7. Re: File Type Associations--no mp4
AudoWarp Jun 24, 2013 5:57 PM (in response to Curt Y)I'm trying to get VLC to play mp4 files that i double click on in Bridge.
Bridge doesn't seem to have "mp43" in the list of file types in the "File Type Association" box
So my mp4 open with Winamp.
Why is there no "mp4" in the list of files in the "File Type Assocation" preferences box?

BigBlueBranding Jan 10, 2014 10:14 AM (in response to AudoWarp)I am also experiencing this issue. I'd like to assign .mp4 files to open in Photoshop but there's no entry for it in the Preference List.
DId you ever find a resolution to this isuue?
