1. Re: Seamless repeating pattern - using embedded images with clipping masks
Jacob Bugge Jun 25, 2013 2:16 AM (in response to prodic)Kenneth,
What happens if you create and place an nostroke/nofill rectangle with the right size and position behind everything else, then make sure it is also selected and try again?

Monika Gause Jun 25, 2013 2:16 AM (in response to prodic)Actually you might want to prepare it in Photoshop in order to optimize performance.

prodic Jun 25, 2013 3:20 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)Jacob,
We tried that as well. Same outcome. The size of the repeat is still too large due to the images/clipping masks and their edges.

prodic Jun 25, 2013 3:21 AM (in response to Monika Gause)Monika,
That's what I thought as well. Just wanted to do it all in Illustrator if possible.

Jacob Bugge Jun 25, 2013 3:34 AM (in response to prodic)Kenneth,
You may try the destructive deed, with the Clipping Mask selected:
1) In the Transparency palette/panel dropdown list select anything but Normal (Multiply is fine),
2) Object>Flatten Transparency, just keep the defaults including 100% Vector,
3) Shudder.
This should reduce the size to the Bounding Box of the Clipping Path.

prodic Jun 25, 2013 5:27 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)Brugge,
I certainly wouldn't call it a pretty solution, but the Object->Flatten seems to work.
Wouldn't do it that way in real life, but this was just a challenge that need a solution.
We left out the Multiply-part, but did indeed shudder.

Jacob Bugge Jun 25, 2013 6:36 AM (in response to prodic)Kenneth,
I believe in the latest version(s) it is unnecessary to change the Transparency Mode, so I should like to exempt. Which is yours?

Indeed.

8. Re: Seamless repeating pattern - using embedded images with clipping masks
prodic Jun 25, 2013 7:27 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)I personally tested in CC, but our user with the actual problem only has CS5.5.
Haven't yet tested whether they are different when it comes to Transparancy Mode.

Jacob Bugge Jun 25, 2013 7:31 AM (in response to prodic)Thank you Kenneth. I hope you will report back on CS5(.5), which is the version I am unsure of.
