Preran Jun 26, 2013 2:41 PM (in response to rfletcher73)Hi rfletcher73,
I will pass on your feedback to the product team. Meanwhile, there is no way currently to get back the original Insert panel in CC. You can continue using CS6 in parallel.
Thanks,
Preran

rfletcher73 Jun 26, 2013 8:33 PM (in response to Preran)please add the classic toolbar back to Dreamweaver, I've used dw since MX and I'm not sure why the classic toolbar not only changed in appearance, but also the way it works.
you know most of the time I copy text from word and paste it into dw. And then I highlight each paragraph and then click the paragraph button. I'm not sure what good the current button is because I can not use it the same way.

6. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
John Waller Jul 25, 2013 2:21 PM (in response to rfletcher73)There's unlikely to be an update for many months, if ever.
Adobe has done a lot of work re-arranging the Insert menu in recent new versions. It's unlikely they'll ever be reverting to the Insert menu of previous versions so I wouldn't hold your breath for change.

7. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
rfletcher73 Jul 25, 2013 2:58 PM (in response to John Waller)@John Waller - but the current menu is broken. It's simply not as good and also not as handy as the CS6 version.
One would think that they would listen to how real developers will use the menus. I'd be happy to use the new menu except say i have a block of text and then i hightlight that text and click the P button from the insert menu and what does the new menu do? It acts kind of stupid by inserting an opening and closing p tags with some goofy sentence that says to the effect of "this is where you put your text". Like really? Why doesnt it just wrap the tags around what i have already selected?
This a very basic thing so I am hoping that they are listening and I'm sure whomever's idea to make it work this way was probably just goofing on people that use the menu. I rarely use the menu but this one thing that I would typically do with it as it was easy and fast.
In the meantime, I'm using the hotkey - CTRL + SHIFT + p -- that works as it should, not sure why the menu works differently -- The new menu is way, way, way less handy.
I won't hold my breath for a fix to this, but I am still hopeful that they will fix this little broken feature.

John Waller Jul 25, 2013 3:11 PM (in response to rfletcher73)File a bug report/feature request with Adobe using the official form
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Don't expect a personal reply but at least you then know you've done all you can to report it via the correct channels.

chastainmedia Sep 24, 2013 8:32 PM (in response to rfletcher73)I have been pulling my hair our since I DLed the new DW. It's the same with <h1> tags etc...
Is there a settign somewhere we've missed? This adds so mch time to formatting that I can't believe anyone published it like that and thought it was ok.

Al Sparber Sep 24, 2013 9:12 PM (in response to chastainmedia)This might work unless Adobe did something in the last update:

I posted this before and folks seem blissfully unaware. Try it

11. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
rfletcher73 Sep 25, 2013 8:07 AM (in response to Al Sparber)hey Al, thanks for sharing your menu extension with us. It does seem useful and i will give it a try.
The problem I have is that I Dreamweaver CS6 is actually what i have been using because DW CC has more problems with it than just the paragraph menu button being crippled. I would just like the button to be a little bit smarter.
The other issues I have come across with DW CC are its crashes alot. When i edit .aspx pages inside of DW it has problems loading them sometimes and often crashes when i am trying to do a search and replace.
DW CS6 seems to work better for me and is way more stable. I do use CC on occasion on my laptop which is running Windows 8 Pro. It seems to run better under Windows8 than it does on Windows 7.
I just hope they maybe read my original comment and they fix the "p" button.
And actually, what it forced me to do is learn the shortcut - Press CTRL + SHIFT + P - that will wrap the text with a p tag. Probably the fastest way to do this anyway. Maybe thats why they crippled the buttons to force people to use the keyboard shortcut?

12. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
chastainmedia Sep 27, 2013 5:31 PM (in response to Al Sparber)Al - it's not just getting the menu. In the old Dreamweaver (up unitil cs5) when you highlight some text and hit the button on the menu ( <p>, <h1>,<div> )whatever - It would wrap the tag around the text, formatting the desired text as a paragraph, heading1, Strong, Italics, etc...
Now it replaces your text with "<p>This is the content for Layout P Tag</p>"
Causing you to have to delete "This is the content for Layout P Tag" and replace it with the desired text.
There has to be a preference or setting to change this somewhere.

13. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
Al Sparber Sep 27, 2013 5:45 PM (in response to chastainmedia)You need to spend just a little while changing some old habits. It is
not difficult. In my CC, I can select text and, using the Structure
category of the Insert Bar (converting from the useless Insert Panel
using our tutorial), I can wrap that selection in a DIV tag.
To be honest, I never did that before. I normally press CTRL+T to wrap
any tag I want around a selection.
CSS is poorly designed, to be sure, but in this case thete are better
ways to accomplish what you want.

What you're referring to is the "Text" category, which was removed from the Insert Bar/Panel in CS6 at some point. I'm showing it in CS5.5, but not in the cloud version of CS6 or CC. You could add it back if you had the notion, but it would probably be overwritten during a future update.
I'm using Dreamweaver CC 13.1. In Preferences > Copy/Paste, I have "Text with structure plus basic formatting (Bold, Italic)" selected, and below that, "Retain line breaks" and "Clean up Word paragraph spacing". So when I paste paragraphs from Word, they're already wrapped in <p> tags. Even when pasting multiple paragraphs from a text editor, Dreamweaver still wraps them in <p> tags for me. So I'm not having to do a lot of manual paragraph formatting during production work. Should the need arise, I use the Format dropdown on the Properties panel.

chastainmedia Oct 16, 2013 3:25 PM (in response to Reach Puneet)I spent the time to make snippets. took my time and now it's still not as easy as before to make paragraphs in copied text, quickly assign headings, etc.. - live and learn

18. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
rfletcher73 Oct 17, 2013 8:38 AM (in response to Reach Puneet)Hi Reach -
This is great news to hear that this mighty useful toolbar will be back in a later version of DW CC. Thanks for listening.
I did not have any problem using CTRL + SHIFT + P, that would create the open and closing p tags around the text, so that shortcut works. I do still enjoy the "Text" menu.
I have been using CS6 eventhough i have CC. There are other issues that I ran into with CC, but that will be for another thread.

19. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
Reach Puneet Oct 17, 2013 9:17 AM (in response to rfletcher73)Just to be a bit more clear.
Text menu is not coming back.
This ability will be added to current location of P tag and H tags, i.e, Structure category.
Let me know if you have any concerns with reasoning to support the same.

20. Re: DW CC has a new insert menu...is there a way to get the old back?
rfletcher73 Oct 17, 2013 10:47 AM (in response to Reach Puneet)Once you fix the DW CC buttons to work like the old ones did, I'll see how that goes. I don't think it will be a problem since all I am looking for is a button to create a opening and closing p tag around some text that i have already pasted into my webpage.
I would have had no problem with the new menu system except it was not as good as the old one. Fix that and you might have a winner.
