Hi,

if I try to search for updates within After Effects with the menu item "Updates..." I get the error "Update Failed" from the Application Manager. See screenshot:

AdobeApplicationManagerUpdateFailed.jpg

if I click the first link I get a html 404 error "Sorry this page is not available!" ***GREAT***

the second links to the customer Support page?

http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite.html

not very helpful....

if I try to start the Application Manager manually by executing this file

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDapp.exe

the Application Manager downloads an update (for the manager itself) but the update process fails! see screenshot

AdobeApplicationManagerInstallationFailed.jpg

All this happend suddenly and totally out of the blue and I did not changed anything on my computer. Updates in the past have already worked fine.

This happens with every application from the Creative Suites (CS5, CS5.5, CS6) and I'm no more able to get any updates for the applications.

I'm a bit lost now any help is much appreciated!

Hey  Abhijit,

because you didn't answer my last post I went my own way of fixing it!

I have done your steps

Rename the OOBE Folder to OOBE.old from these locations

C:\Users\(your Username)\AppData\Local\Adobe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

but instead of downloading Creative Cloud from creative.adobe.com I installed AdobeApplicationManager.exe from temp folder!

It turned out that AdobeApplicationManager.exe from my temp folder was the same installer like the one from creative cloud!?

Well, I

Hi,

Could you please follow this step and let me know if it helps.

Rename the OOBE Folder to OOBE.old from these locations and download Creative Cloud from creative.adobe.com.

C:\Users\(your Username)\AppData\Local\Adobe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

Try Updating the software.

thanks for your reply,

but I'm now a little bit confused.

My problem is not an installation problem of creative cloud! Only my Application Manager of my creative Suites seems to be damaged!

I'm not running any creative cloud services on my computer and don't want to install them.

As I understand it, the Application Manager is only needed for updates of my Creative Suites (CS5, CS5.5, CS6).

could you maybe provide me a link to a standalone Application Manager install instead?

Or is the creative cloud install at creative.adobe.com the Application Manager???

Don't get me wrong I'm very thankfull for you help but it's my working computer and all programms work fine except the update function.

I just don't want to mess it up with wrong installations.

I already have the AdobeApplicationManager.exe in my temp folder (which was downloaded from the Application Manager itself for the update which failed)

Would your steps to cover the problem

Rename the OOBE Folder to OOBE.old from these locations

C:\Users\(your Username)\AppData\Local\Adobe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

install AdobeApplicationManager.exe from temp folder

make more sense? or would work too?

Thank you very much for your help

kind regards

Felix

Well, I was first a little bit scared that I now have creative cloud installed on my system but I think creative cloud is the new name or version of the Application Manager?

I also want to report back for other users with the same problem that the menu/help/update... functionality inside CS Applications works again as expected!

One question remains:

Could I safely remove the renamed folder OOBE.old from these locations without any harm to my system?

C:\Users\(your Username)\AppData\Local\Adobe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

Thank you very much for your help Abhijit

Kind regards

Felix
