flash player doesn't work

I have started having trouble with my adobe flash player not working.  When I try to use it, I get a notice that says it is not installed.  I install it, which tells me it was successful and is listed on the add/remove programs; however, when I try to use it, I'm told it is not installed.  I have uninstalled the program and have done a new install, which is told was successful, still doesn't work.  I am wondering if some type of update could have caused my problem?  I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit.

Launch Internet Explorer -> Click on Help (Menu Bar) -> About Intetnet Explorer
