1. Re: Whether to SLI or not to SLI, that is the question.
desi0214 Jun 28, 2013 8:48 PM (in response to Nicol Simard)Nice Nicol. Good information. I'm thinking in my situation with 1 GTX 670 4GB adding another should get me through for a while. In SLI does the cards act as one sharing both RAM and Cuda cores? Thanks.

Nicol Simard Jun 29, 2013 12:15 PM (in response to desi0214)Yes and no. You end up with the equivalent of double the GPUs and Cuda cores but not double the RAM.

Bill Gehrke Jun 29, 2013 1:46 PM (in response to Nicol Simard)Nicol, sure hope you get timre to run PPBM6 sometime. My MPEG2-DVD encoding with 2 GPU's (GTX 780 and GTX 680) is 16 seconds on my older X58 motherboard which means PCIe x16 v 2.0. You should be able to beat that.

JSS1138 Jun 29, 2013 2:55 PM (in response to Nicol Simard)Curious. I thought I read where SLI won't work. Nice to know it does.

Nicol Simard Jun 29, 2013 4:12 PM (in response to Nicol Simard)I don't know why people have been saying it doesn't work 'coz it sure does for me. And it works damn well.

Nicol Simard Jul 2, 2013 11:50 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Bill,
although I have not been experiencing any difficulty rendering/exporting H.264 video projects using my Titans in SLI mode, I simply cannot export the H.264 part of the PPBM6 test. The compiler stops immediately and gives me an "unknown error" message.

That UPS has a rated load limit of 980W. That PSU will try to initialize at its rated load rating for the first 10 seconds. If you notice in the specs of that UPS it states the Topology of that UPS is Line Interactive. That means there is a transformer on the main circuit that is only rated to handle a load of what the UPS is rated to handle. They are not going to use a much bigger transformer for that unit since those add significant costs than what is required. If you are unsure still I suggest you call them and ask if a failure happens to the UPS with the PSU you have on it will they warranty it or insure hardware attached to the unit if such a policy is applied to those.
