1. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
Todd_Kopriva Jul 3, 2013 3:14 PM (in response to NickBoston)I don't understand your question. Could you elaborate on exactly what you're trying to do? A screenshot might help.

2. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
NickBoston Jul 3, 2013 3:19 PM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Thanks for the reply Todd. I'm away from my computer at the moment so I don't have a screenshot available.
What I'm trying to do is collapse the drop down arrows all at once without having to click each arrow in the layers panel. When there are say 20 or so layers it's a bit tedious to click each arrow to consolidate the layers again.
Does that make sense?
Thanks!

3. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
Todd_Kopriva Jul 3, 2013 3:29 PM (in response to NickBoston)See this page, specifically the section titled "Show or hide properties in the Timeline panel".
Your question was confusing because of your non-standard and somewhat misleading terminology. (For one thing, you're referring to the Timeline panel, not the Layer panel, which is a very different thing.) It really helps if you begin by going through the basic learning materials here, both so that you can learn the basics and so that you have a common language when asking questions.

4. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
Zogeta Jul 3, 2013 4:13 PM (in response to NickBoston)Try hitting "u" a couple times. Usually works for me.

5. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
Rick Gerard Jul 3, 2013 6:47 PM (in response to Zogeta)deselect all layers. Press u then press it again (or p or a or t or r) and all layers will either show you the property selected, keyframes or collapse and show you no keyframes or properties. AE has always worked this way.

6. Re: Is there a short cut key to close all the layer menu drop downs at once?
NickBoston Jul 3, 2013 9:38 PM (in response to Rick Gerard)Appreciate the replies so far. The quickest way so far to achieve this I've found is to select all the layers (cmd+A) and then hold (cmd) and click an open arrow and they all collapse neatly. Is that the best way?
Thanks Todd for the links, I'll be more clear next time. (Also, I just realized my friend and I met you in Boston last month when we recognized your voice from the Video2Brain tutorials! Great talking with you then!)
