That shouldn't stop photoshop 7 from working
After you see the screen that has the code 21:120 (Adobe Online Error) there should be a OK button that you can press.
Then after pressing OK another screen (Adobe Product Updates) should appear and you should be able to press Close.
Photoshop should work normally after that.
You can go to Edit>Preferences>Adobe Online and turn off the checking for updates (Never)
Well, it seems you are correct! What happens is that after closing the boxes, most of the menu choices to begin work are ghosted out, however, after reading your post I went back into PS again to test your therory. The update did not self-launch, and the menu is not ghosted out. I was able to load a photo. I believe you are right! It took opening it a second time in a row to discover that it does work if I just close PS and reboot the program! I'm so grateful for your help!
Once photoshop opens and works normally go to Edit>Preferences>Adobe Online and choose Never
then hopefully next time you start ps 7 you won't see the updater screens.
(the update server for ps7 has been offline for awhile and that's why the updater gives those errors)
Also, in photoshop 7 if you go to Help>About Photoshop, which version does it list in lower left of the splash screen?
It should be Version 7.01 if your all up to date.
It says 7.0, so I guess it is not up to date. Thanks so much for your assistance!
You can get the photoshop 7.01 update from here:
(scroll down the page to Version 7.01)
(the 7.01 update without a language listed beside it is the english version)
I found and downloaded the 7.01 update however it won't install. The message says : "Update...cannot find Adobe Photoshop 7.0 in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\
I searched around and it looks like PS 7.0 is where it should be, in the program files\adobe folder, along side the Acrobat program files. I searched the C drive and did find some PS files located under C:\Documents and Settings\lhamblin\application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop\Settings
I notice that the installer won't let me browse anywhere other than Program Files. I'm stumped.
This is what i found, but if you don't have the installation cd and serial number, then it's probably not worth worrying about if photoshop 7 works for
what you want to do.
