1. Re: how to edit 4, red footage using cs6 pc win7 24gb ram please
JEShort01 Jul 6, 2013 5:02 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)I was looking for public domain 4k footage two years ago! See:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3826526
Regarding the optimal system to edit 4k feature film, I would suggest a dual Xeon e5-2687w, 64GB of RAM, large RAID array (media, projects, scratch, cache, renders all on one), ??? video card(s) and Adobe CC. This can be done for under 10k US $.
If you (he) will largely be single layer 4k work, a single 6-core cpu build would suffice.
Regards,
Jim

2. Re: how to edit 4, red footage using cs6 pc win7 24gb ram please
Fuzzy Barsik Jul 6, 2013 6:06 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)I have no issues with editing 4k RED footages on a 4-years old machine with CPU i7 920, RAM 18 GB etc. on CS5.5, Windows 7. With Playback Resolution set to 1/4, which is more than enough for motion check, everything is smooth in both several tracks timeline and multicam. I even never had to render preview while applying rough key. Therefore, it's up to you do decide, whether to upgrade your current rig and, if so, to which extent. Running your own tests is the right way to go.

6. Re: how to edit 4, red footage using cs6 pc win7 24gb ram please
Fuzzy Barsik Jul 6, 2013 10:41 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)Aside from London2.zip and Glass.zip that very Russian website contains 3 more zip archives, which, in turn, contain 7 samples, including a couple of green screens. Also check the links to reduser.net etc. in the comment below the original post and you'll find enough R3D samples to dabble with.

tfi productions 44 Jul 6, 2013 10:53 AM (in response to Fuzzy Barsik)hello, thanks for the additional links and the revisit to the russian site...
1.) with the elemental link the download comes down as a .mov quicktime: i don't have/don't want quicktime on my machine
is there a way to quickly change the file extension to get it to play in vlc player please...
2.) any ideas on an nvidia gpu that supports 4k resolution? most only state up to 2560...

8. Re: how to edit 4, red footage using cs6 pc win7 24gb ram please
Fuzzy Barsik Jul 6, 2013 11:10 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)There are no .MOV files per se in those links. Some zip archives contain original R3D folders with F, H, M and P proxies recorded as .MOV files by RED alongside with .R3D files.

cheers, j
note to self: displayport 1.2 supports 4096x2160 (which isn't 2205 vertical which is needed for fhd3d
