JSS1138 Jul 5, 2013 10:50 AM (in response to Shane P)1080p/60 is not part of any common delivery spec. The four most used would be:
1080i/30
1080p/24
720p/60
720p/24
The primary purpose of shooting 1080p/60 is for superior slow motion in a 24p project.

Shane P Jul 5, 2013 3:15 PM (in response to JSS1138)Ok Jim, thank you for clarifying. I assumed shooting 1080p 59.94 would be ideal as it is the highest frame rate and progressive scan. I have noticed that it is not as widely used as the other formats.
1080i/30 - What is the benefit of shooting interlaced video when new devices such as tv's, computer screens, etc and display progressive? When you transcode for the web to progressive is there a quality loss?
I never sw the benefit of shooting 720 if the camera could shoot 1080. I always had the mindset of "I'd rather be able to scale down than wish I had shot 1080 and want to scale up and have it look poor.
Thank you for the reply Jim. I'd appreciate insightopinions on the 1080i/30 workflow.

That it works without any frame rate conversion for common delivery methods - DVD, Blu-ray, broadcast.
