1. Re: How can I get embedded videos to play in ppt files within a connect meeting?
Sameer Puri Jul 7, 2013 9:49 AM (in response to harrythuillier)Hi Harry,
Even if you import FLV instead of WMV into a ppt, it wont play when you upload the ppt in the share pod.
If you want Powerpoint inserted videos to play, you need to use Adobe Presenter. You will have to publish your PPT(x) file to Connect and then share the content in the meeting. Powerpoint inserted videos will work then and in addition to that you can add videos from Presenter itself, which will also play inside meeting room.
You can ask for a Presenter trial from Adobe website.
Hope this info helps!

harrythuillier Jul 7, 2013 1:39 PM (in response to Sameer Puri)Hi Sameer
Many thanks for your reply - I should be getting the trial for adobe presenter tomorrow morning. In your third sentence, do you mean you'll have to publish ppt(x) files to presenter? And then upload the presenter file to connect? Hopefully this will become clear when I use the application.
Thanks

Thank you for your usual support
I would like to know what is the best save format for my presentation which is fully automated.
If you can provide some good resources about what every format is used for, I will be more than happy
your support is highly appreciated Mr.Sameer
Best regards

Sameer Puri Jul 8, 2013 2:27 AM (in response to harrythuillier)Hi Harry,
Once you install Adobe Presenter, you will see all the options (from inserting Videos to publishing it to Connect) there. Though all of them are highly intuitive, you can always ask any questions that you may have, here on this forum. We will be happy to help.
Thanks

Sameer Puri Jul 8, 2013 2:32 AM (in response to iphonybiz)Hi iphony,
Thanks for the appreciation! But apologies, i am not quite sure about your question here. What format are you looking for? Are you asking for Video formats, then FLV is best format, though you can allso import other vid types (asf, wmv, mpg, mp4, dv dvi, mov, 3g). Let me know if this answers what you were looking for.
Thanks

6. Re: How can I get embedded videos to play in ppt files within a connect meeting?
harrythuillier Jul 8, 2013 5:09 AM (in response to Sameer Puri)Hi Sameer,
Thanks again for the reply. I've spent a couple of hours in the adobe presenter ribbon within powerpoint now, and I have tried publishing the file and packaging it. Neither are recognised by adobe connect. When I publish the ppt it just creates a data and metadata folder, and there are no accessible files to put into adobe connect when I try to share it. When I click the ppt file, it tries to upload but just freezes after a while. I have also tried the same process with a smaller file (2MB) with the same result.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? We have a rehearsal this afternoon and currently no presentation, so appreciate your help.
Thanks
Harry

8. Re: How can I get embedded videos to play in ppt files within a connect meeting?
Sameer Puri Jul 8, 2013 6:38 AM (in response to harrythuillier)Hi harry,
you are trying to upload the converted content, that wont help. You have 2 options to publish your content and use that content inside meeting room:
1. Publish locally as a zip and then upload zip file which is recognized as a valid content from inside the meeting room. You get an option to convert as a zip as achechboz in the Publish Locally dialog box.
2. OR you can directly publish to Connect's content library. For this you need to select the 2nd tab inside Presenter to select Publish to Connect option. This will open Connect window from inside Presenter and from there you can login using Connect credentials and publish to Connect's content library. But for this you must have Author rights in Connect.
I will suggest you to use the 1st option above. Publish as a zip and then upload zip to Connect.
Hope this will solve your problem! Let me know if it doesn't!

10. Re: How can I get embedded videos to play in ppt files within a connect meeting?
Sameer Puri Jul 9, 2013 2:18 AM (in response to harrythuillier)The issue looked to be a Presenter side issue with the trial version of Presenter not able to publish (even locally).
Sent the converted zip file to Harry. But just to re-confirm, as the videos were inserted using Powerpoint, not all the videos may work. So Harry, please check beforehand.
Thanks

James Jones Jul 9, 2013 4:52 AM (in response to harrythuillier)Sameer– Are you saying that the ONLY way to do this is via Adobe Presenter? There must be another way as Presenter is a $500 software application that will be beyond the ability of many Connect users.

13. Re: How can I get embedded videos to play in ppt files within a connect meeting?
Sameer Puri Jul 9, 2013 5:15 AM (in response to James Jones)Hi jsb152,
To have the embedded videos working inside a PPT(X), Presenter is the only option available. We use Presenter bits at the back-end to convert PPTX files and display them in the meeting room.
Other than that you can have CPTX content using Adobe Captivate, which also provides Audio-Video support. In short, there should be a publishing tool used to make the videos work inside a PPTX OR you have to use other type of content (like CPTX) and publish it ot SWF and then upload inside a meeting.
Hope this makes sense!

Luke_nexgen Nov 10, 2014 9:03 AM (in response to Sameer Puri)Hi Sameer- I'm going to complicate things- what about using a adobe connect meeting room, to share a power point, with a video, on an ipad? Any suggestions? I can get the video to play fine in the adobe room on a pc but have had no luck on the ipad.
thanks for your help in advance.
