Steve Grisetti Jul 8, 2013 5:14 AM (in response to fredowww66)Are you sure G Spot won't work with 1080p?
Have you tried Media Info?

fredowww66 Jul 8, 2013 12:42 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Thanks, that one works.
Gspot starts but all the infofields are blank. And I've read here somewhere that it indeed doesn't work for 1080p 50fr

Bill Hunt Jul 8, 2013 1:01 PM (in response to fredowww66)I cannot address 1080p 50, your particular question, but will state that G-Spot does fall a bit short on some formats/CODEC's. I do not think that it does THAT good a job with WMV's, of instance.
Many, myself included, do like MediaInfo (per Steve's link) better in general. However, I have both of those, and then, for MOV files, also rely on the Properties Panel in Apple's QuickTime Pro.
With all the formats, all of the specs., and all of the CODEC's, it pays to have several utilities available.
Good luck,
Hunt

I would need to do more homework on the issue that you present, but I do not believe the issue goes specifically to the 1080p50 format.
Here is what I did.
I had a Panasonic sample 1080p50 file that I downloaded from online.
Video compression = AVCHD
Audio compression = Dolby Digital Stereo
File Extension .mts
1920 x 1080 @ 50 progressive frames per second.
When I ran that through gspot I got the same readout that I believe that you are seeing for your 1080p50, that is, only fields with entries were File Path and Size, and Container.
I renamed the file extension of the 1080p50 from .mts to .mp4 and got the same result.
Then I took this file .mts into Premiere Elements 11 and exported it to a file
Video compression = AVCHD
Audio compression = AAC Stereo
File Extension .mp4
1920 x 1080 @ 50 progressive frames per second
This Premiere Elements 11 export had a complete gspot readout.
Unfortunately, Premiere Elements does not export to a file with a .mts file extension so that I could tighten up on the variables. But, as I said, I do not suspect that this issue is specific for the 1080p50 format.
More later, but a least you have MediaInfo Tree view as a good alternative. But, I do like the Status on codecs feature of gspot.
More if I pin this one down.
