Site with free sound effects?

Hi guys!

I'm trying to find a good site with free sound efftect.. every site I've found on google has seemed to be a dead end. I can listen to them but when I go to save/download the file they just sit there clocking like the server is jammed up. It's frustrating so I thought I'd ask here since I'm sure a lot of you are veterans at this!

Any leads would be awesome. Thank you for all of the great information.

When I looked at the downloads that seem to be just sitting there it appears that they are all trying to download from the same place ... so all of the sites must be linked to the same database... hoping someone has a good source that actually works heh

Are you looking for foley effects, or music beds? Or both?

I like freesound.org. It has both effects and music.

This article has many sources for music and SFX. Some are free, where some are not: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5072982#5072982

I have not used all sources, and many of the recs. have come from users here. I have used many of the "for pay," and a handful of the "free" ones, and have never had an issue, other than finding exactly what I needed.

Good luck, and if you find some sources, that are not shown here, please let me know, so that they can be added.

As always, thanks a bunch you guys!! I really appreciate the info. I found that Jamendo had a nice music selection but no Sound Effects. I'll be reviewing the info in the posts above!
