1. Re: Changing UI language in InDesign CC WITHOUT LOSING SETTINGS
amxyz Jul 12, 2013 4:05 PM (in response to anssikumpula)I apologies for your frustration, anssikumpula!
It's not necessary to uninstall the version of InDesign CC on your computer to switch UI language. You just need to change the language preference and install the version with the appropriate language UI.
Here's a video that explains the process: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs6-creative-cloud-feature-tour-for-design/installing-multiple-l anguages-of-a-desktop-application/
As for keeping all user settings consistent, this is where Syncing with Creative Cloud feature will come into play later this year. Meanwhile, you can export the preferences .xml file from your user library and import to the version with different language UI. Please refer here for instructions: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4640179
Hope this helps and please mark the answer as correct if it does. Thanks!

That's incorrect. As I said I did follow that advice but that only works with some other Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop CC, but not InDesign CC.

3. Re: Changing UI language in InDesign CC WITHOUT LOSING SETTINGS
MiaNiemi66 Sep 24, 2013 5:18 AM (in response to anssikumpula)Go to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Locales\sv_SE\Support Files
(I got Swedish wanted and bought English, so maby its called something else your map)
Change the tw10428.bat file to tw10428.bak
That was great after trying sooooooooo long and Adobe you cant mail and ask. Now its in English. I will do the same in all programs now.
No need for reinstallation.
Good luck!

metagrapher_ Feb 23, 2014 10:00 PM (in response to gener7)Thank you for linking that, however it seems an incomplete hack (er workaround?)
To quote the author of that article:
"Almost all the menu items are translated, but some aren’t. There’s really nothing you can do about that. "
Adobe needs to address this. This very thread is proof that it's been an issue since 2008. 6 years. Way too long.

werweflk Jul 10, 2014 3:52 AM (in response to anssikumpula)totaly agree with you. it seems ridiculous that one has to go through so much trouble to change the language of the ui. plus, i was never asked what language i preffer it in.
