1. Re: I there any way to view the ActionScript used in an SWF file?
Ned Murphy Aug 1, 2013 12:47 PM (in response to This_Guy_123)Can't you ask the agency to provide the code that is used in the file? If you couyld get the fla file that is used to create the swf then you could look in that and troubleshoot it yourself.
The only way I can think that you might see the code in the swf is to get a decompiler. But there is no guarantee it will provide a legible version of the code as far as how it is arranged in the file.

This_Guy_123 Aug 1, 2013 1:20 PM (in response to Ned Murphy)I can... That has helped in a few scenarios, but we're at the mercy of the timeliness of our clients and middlemen doing all the talking, and it takes far too long to get anything done that way. There are also some agencies that are fickle when it comes to providing their .fla files. And even when I do get them there are almost always font issues.
I have done some googling and a decompiler sounds like what I'm looking for, do you have any suggestions as to which one to get? preferably one that runs on a Mac platform? i'm sure whatever it says would give me the right information as to what issues exist.
Cheers
Jeremy

3. Re: I there any way to view the ActionScript used in an SWF file?
Ned Murphy Aug 1, 2013 2:53 PM (in response to This_Guy_123)I have no hands-on experience by which to recommend a decompiler. I have only hearsay, and that hearsay is likely what you will hear anywhere you might ask. The most often recommended decompiler in my experience is made by Sothink. They do make a version for Macs.
