1. Re: Why Do I Have Choppy Video Preview with Premiere Pro CS5.5
SAFEHARBOR11 Aug 6, 2013 1:57 PM (in response to borisbsp)Your computer is quite similar to mine. The potential issue I see is the video being on USB hard drives - if they are USB 2.0, that is not a good option, USB 2.0 is too slow for video editing. USB 3.0 with fast drive would be fine (I use a G-RAID 4TB external over USB 3.0). For now, try moving the video to the internal SATA drive and see how it plays. Another issue is that you are not benefiting from the GPU acceleration of Mercury Playback, no Nvidia graphics. Makes a BIG difference!
Thanks

John T Smith Aug 6, 2013 2:04 PM (in response to borisbsp)PPro before the cloud does not support crossfire... and that may cause problems
Dual Card SLI http://forums.adobe.com/thread/872941
-problem http://forums.adobe.com/thread/872103
USB2 hard drive is too slow for video editing
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... eSata is better - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1117813
ONE possibility is this $47 USB3 dock with fan http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SuperSpeed-Docking-Station-Cooling/dp/B0055PL2YI
