1. Re: Is the Cloud going to replace the hard copy of Photoshop and every other Adobe software?
plains dweller Aug 5, 2013 2:23 PM (in response to Stacey Bindman)FROM ADOBE:
"Adobe announced that the company will focus creative software development efforts on its Creative Cloud offering moving forward. While Adobe Creative Suite® 6 products will continue to be supported and available for purchase, the company has no plans for future releases of Creative Suite or other CS products. Focusing development on Creative Cloud will not only accelerate the rate at which Adobe can innovate but also broaden the type of innovation the company can offer the creative community."
Looks like eventually all programs will migrate to the cloud.

gener7 Aug 5, 2013 2:40 PM (in response to Stacey Bindman)Adobe will offer a "permanent license" for CS6 and will make fixes as new Mac and PC OS's arrive, but CS7 will be activated by subscription only.
CC means you are not accessing PS on a remote server, you download and install the program, your files can be saved to your local hard drive, but you pay a monthly fee to keep it active, just like your phone and internet services. You get to keep your phone, but you can't place calls if you stop paying,

Bill Hunt Aug 5, 2013 3:27 PM (in response to Stacey Bindman)I believe that others have addressed the main points regarding the CC (Creative Cloud) licensing of most Adobe programs.
Now, at this moment, there does not appear to be any plan for taking either of the Elements programs, Photoshop Elements, or Premiere Elements, to the CC licensing model.
There will likely be a few other Adobe programs, that will not go to CC, but I think that the main programs will all be CC only, when the life-span of CS 6 versions have run their course.
So, not ALL Adobe programs, but all of the Creative Suite programs.

Lundberg02 Aug 5, 2013 9:02 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Rumor has it that the next Lightroom will be CC.
It's a good all around app, but Capture One has better skin tone rendition and DxO has much betterr lens correction and perspective correction, although it currently does not support DNG.

Lundberg02 Aug 6, 2013 4:56 PM (in response to Lundberg02)BTW, I have found a problem with PhotoLine and am discussing it with Gerhard Huber their support guy. They use a browse/enable scheme to activate third party filters. It works, but you have to do it again every time you launch the app.

Care to back up that rumor with proof? Who said that, when? Everything Adobe has said is that Lightroom will remain a perpetual license product. If you have any sort of proof, state it, otherwise keep your FUD to yourself.

Please answer the question. What plans does Adobe have for non-cloud Lightroom beyond the Lightroom 5 release?
Adobe’s repeated evasion on this matter is deeply troubling and implies the worst — that LR5 is the end of the line. Over here, Adobe has said “The Photoshop team will provide bug fixes and security updates for Photoshop CS6 while it is still available for purchase.” No such assurance was made for Lightroom. That makes it very difficult to take it on faith that there will ever be any new features added to non-cloud Lightroom after LR5.

Read this...Lightroom and the Creative Cloud
What part of this don't you understand?
Q. Will Lightroom become a subscription only offering after Lightroom 5?
A. Future versions of Lightroom will be made available via traditional perpetual licenses indefinitely.
I read that as meaning LR6, LR7 and beyond will remain a perpetual license...do you know something I don't know?
Again, it's useful if you spread real info and not FUD...

9. Re: Is the Cloud going to replace the hard copy of Photoshop and every other Adobe software?
Lundberg02 Aug 7, 2013 2:32 PM (in response to Jeff Schewe)I'm afraid Adobe has made a Creative Cloud Of FUD themelves. They've shown a complete disregard of the occasional user with their concept and pricing. If they only want the pros in a business or enterprise setting, why wouldn't they put Lightroom in the cloud. It would have to be priced at around 7.50 a month though.
I could see Elements as perpetual, but why not abandon perp[etual entirely if they have the mindset it appoears they have?
