1. Re: Laptop Solution for fast data ofload?
JEShort01 Aug 1, 2013 2:31 PM (in response to naumen)Newmodeus sells caddies that are intended for SATA 2.5" drives: (I have used a drive caddy from these guys in a Dell)

Then, buy one of the 2.5" SATA "Compact Flash" holders and stick that in the Drive Caddy. Something like this: (I have not used this device personally)

I'm sure you will be able to "hot swap", but you may want to make sure you can eject your SATA device before pulling the caddy out. When I've inserted a NewmodeUS drive caddy containing a 2.5" SATA hard drive, I can connect the drive "hot", but I seem to recall that I may have to turn the laptop off to remove it.

very interesting solution for CF cards! seems like its best slution for now
wish there could be a caddy that just has Esata, or Sata, or USB 3.0 from the outside , so that i could connect CF card via reader or another hdd if needed...

Kranex1 Aug 4, 2013 10:10 PM (in response to naumen)Unfortunately your laptop is old and there's only so much you can do with that limited technology. If you can replace the OD you will also need to upgrade to an SSD to get any appreciable use out of it. Hope fully its at least a SATA II. Good luck.
